This apple chocolate cake with crunchy crumbles is quick and easy to prepare and tastes deliciously moist. The basis is a simple sponge cake.
Tip:
If you don't have apples, you can use other fruits like pears, apricots or peaches.
This is how the crumble cake succeeds very easily:
- Mix the flour with the baking powder and cocoa well before processing
- The butter and eggs should be at room temperature
- Slightly sour apples fit especially well
Ingredients:
Batter:
- 100 g flour
- 25 g cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 125 g granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
- 125 g softened butter
- 2 eggs (size M)
- 3 apples
Crumbles:
- 125 g flour
- 25 g cocoa powder
- 100 g granulated sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 100 g softened butter
Preparation:
- Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add the eggs.
- Mix flour with baking powder and cocoa (cinnamon fans can add a little bit of cinnamon here) and add to the dough mixture.Mix everything for a few minutes to a smooth dough
- Line a springform pan (diameter 24 cm) with parchment paper and butter the edge. Put the batter in.
- For the topping, wash and peel the apples and cut them into thin slices. Place them like bricks on your dough.
- Now it’s time for the crumbles: knead the flour, cocoa, cinnamon and sugar together with the butter with your hands until you get a crumbly dough. Spread it on the apples.
- Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 160°C (hot air) for about 45-50 minutes.
